Call for Submissions – Lakeshore Road Artistic Hoarding Mural Project: Richard’s Memorial Park Hoarding Digital Mural

Submission Deadline: April 29, 2024, by 9:00 AM

Project Location: Richard’s Memorial Park, Lakeshore Road West, Mississauga

Project Summary

The Mississauga Arts Council, Peel Region and Stantec have embarked on a mission to provide prominent artistic opportunities to local artists by creating a Request for Proposal “RFP” for a digitally rendered hoarding mural at Richard’s Memorial Park inspired by a flip-book idea.

This initiative was put forward by Councillor Stephen Dasko. “I was excited by the idea I put forward to the Region of Peel and Mississauga Arts Council. Over the next few years of construction taking place of the Lakeshore Trunk Sewer and Sub-transmission Main, we will have incredible local artists displaying their talents for everyone to enjoy!”

This hoarding aims to cover some of the traffic-facing portions of the Lakeshore Sanitary Trunk construction project consisting of 4.0 Km of 2400mm sanitary sewer extending down Lakeshore Rd. from Jack Darling Park to Elmwood Ave.

Project Details

Vision for the Site:
Richard’s Memorial Park is located in Mississauga on Lakeshore Road West, situated close to Jack Darling Park. The park boasts an array of natural beauty, including abundant native animals, and artists may draw inspiration from the ever-changing seasons.

Artists may choose to focus on a particular aspect that resonates with them such as the bustling movements of daily activities by the lake, or the quiet sunsets. Artist(s) are encouraged to interrupt the flip-book-inspired concept freely and need to consider creating large-scale designs that can be easily seen by passing cars and cyclists, maximizing the impact of their art.

The total mural will extend up to a width of 120 feet and a height of 8 feet, the artists will design 6 adjoining hoardings.

Type of Hoarding:
Aluminum composite panels
