Request for Expressions of Interest
Deadline: Sunday, May 5, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. EDT via online application
Budget: $90, 000 CAD (maximum includes HST)
The Town of Oakville is inviting professional Canadian artists and artist teams to submit expressions of interest to create a permanent public artwork for the interior wall of the new community centre opening in 2025 at Sixteen Mile Community Centre. The artwork will be unveiled at the official grand opening of the centre in June 2025.
Professional Canadian artists and artist-led teams are invited to submit their expressions of interest online before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday May 5, 2024.
An artwork proposal is not required at this time.
This call out is a two-stage competition process, starting with an expression of interest that will be reviewed based on merit of past work, professional qualifications, and experience. The shortlisted artists will be paid a $1,500 artist fee to develop a proposal of their artwork concept based on detailed artwork specifications.
The goals of the project include providing visual interest to enhance the Sixteen Mile Community Centre space, engaging Oakville’s diverse and vibrant community, and promoting dialogue.
The selected artist will have a budget of $90,000 to create an artwork that will be unveiled June 2025.
