In nature, we will often take a few steps back and observe the beautiful, vast, panoramic landscape with a sense of awe and wonderment. We may even interpret this vision of nature as an 'other worldly' experience - it is so unique and special.
In my art, I take a different approach. Instead of stepping back, I take a few steps forward to view nature with a forensic eye. Doing this, enables me to create depictions of nature that are rich with amazing and complex textures, colours, and subtleties. Such intricate details enables the viewer of my art to embark on an intimate visual journey.
I find infinite fascination with this small world that is close to the ground, close to us. It is an innate desire for us to have a positive relationship with nature. We are not apart from it. We are nature. In some small way, my works are trying to connect humanity to the natural world in an intimate and gentle way.
