Voluntary Self-Identification

The Arty Crowd funding sources require inclusion of members who identify as belonging to priority groups encompassing: Indigenous, ethnocultural communities, rural or remote residents, youth, and Francophones (english and french). Hamilton Arts Council further wants to measure its success in attracting members from all the diverse groups we serve in the Greater Hamilton Area arts community, including those who are LGBTQ2S+, and persons with disabilities. We will use the aggregates of the information collected here to measure our success in making The Arty Crowd an accessible and safe space for all who join. We thank the members of the committee from the Safer Spaces Project who advised us in creating an inclusive self-identification process.

Biography / Artistic Statement / Creative Vision

Tania is a passionate dancer and dance teacher born and raised in Hamilton. Teaching dance and performing has been a love of hers since the age of 4. Her experience extends from classrooms to theatres and every festival in between. She has a passion for teaching students and allowing them to showcase their talents in both performance opportunities and in local competitions. Tania has a particular passion for the style of jazz dance, but has trained and taught in many styles.

Tania's love of performing has grown from an early age into adulthood where she still finds time to perform and choreograph for local theatre productions. From high school to the current day, she has been involved in many productions for the former Tivoli Theatre, Hammer Entertainment, Hamilton Theatre Inc, and Theatre Ancaster. This is something that continues to be a love of hers and she plans to be involved in community theatre for many more years to come.

Tania has an overall vision to continue to bring her love of dance to her students and the city of Hamilton through continued involvement. She has a firm belief that dance is for everyone and is to be celebrated and showcased by all.  The city of Hamilton is a diverse community full of passionate and talented dance artists, and it is her goal to continue to be a part of this passionate group.
