Leslie Sorochan is an artist, educator and arts advocate living in Southern Ontario. She obtained an Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University's Artist in the Community Education Program. She has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across Canada and abroad. Sorochan's artistic practice centers on drawing. The work is primarily figurative using chalk pastel and metallic pigments on paper. " Initially my work feels romantic, however upon closer examination there is an undercurrent of displacement." Materiality has become more prominent in recent work with extensions into wood, metal and mixed media.
