Kim Collins is a graphic designer and multidisciplinary fine artist. From her studio, she provides clients with creative services from illustration to marketing collateral for print & digital mediums. Kim is constantly working on mixed media fine art through painting, collage and sculpture. In her paintings, acrylic paint and transparent washes are layered to create the illusion of depth under various light intensities. Although the subject matter varies from landscapes to abstracts, common themes throughout her pieces are the use of a rich saturated palette and recycled content.
“As an artist and outdoor enthusiast, I am extremely conscious of the materials and processes used in my artwork. Most or if not all of my pieces use recycled canvases, old latex house paint, mis-tints or some other reused component. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment to repurpose unwanted discarded and damaged items from thrift stores by turning them into new artworks. Working with acrylics, latex paint, inks and other mixed media keeps me busy in the studio. My style is a fusion of my graphic design and fine arts training. It is always evolving as I am forever in the creative space experimenting with new techniques and constantly learning. I am in a continuous search for new creative challenges as they can produce some unique opportunities.”
