Theatre Erebus, was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November 1991.
The origins of the company date back to a series of four Canadian plays which were produced at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 1990.
For a few years, between 1992 and 1995, the company was a fully professional organization employing members of Canadian Actors Equity Association, performing in venues such as, the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, the Hamilton Place Studio Theatre, and the Dundas Centre for the Arts.
In 2006, after lying dormant for several years, the company was reorganized, as an extension of founder Brian Morton's artistic practice as a Playwright and Director, mostly working at the level of the Fringe festival.
The company has had theatre productions in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2022 Hamilton Fringe Festivals.
As a project based company, it frequently goes fallow, but is reborn with each new project.
