Deftly moving between projects widely varied in scale, technique, ideation, and media, Donna Hiebert’s artwork includes intimate jewellery, large scale public sculpture, installation works, and poetry. Donna enjoys sharing her decade’s long knowledge of design and technique through classes and workshops at The Hammer Jewellery Studio School, which resides at her studio in Hamilton at 72 James St North. Her work and approach is informed by both intuitive revelation and rigorous technical research and inspired by sacred geometry, anthropology, and visions that arise during meditation. She is best known for her monumental public sculpture, The Wave, on the Halifax Waterfront, commissioned in 1988, and beloved by generations of Haligonians and visitors alike. She has a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University and exhibits nationally. Her work is in private and public collections throughout Canada.
