Hamiltonian Singer-Songwriter and award-winning playwright Will Gillespie tells stories and sings songs from his Historical Folk Musical: “MINE! True Stories and Legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush.” Now available as a full-length 12″ Vinyl LP or CD.

The album and play both feature 12 songs written in historical styles from Bluegrass to Ragtime, Music Hall, Boogie-Woogie, Barrelhouse Blues, Hot Jazz, Waltzes and MORE! Celebrating the lives of the unsung heroes from a nearly-forgotten chapter of Canadian History: the Porcupine Gold Rush of 1909. It was like another Klondike that happened right here in Ontario, up North in the Porcupine Camp.

The show is a musical journey back in time to a lost world of pioneers, prospectors, lumberjacks, fur traders, bootlegger-bandits, high-graders, dog-sledders and moonshiners.
Told in songs and stories, it also features background projections of historical photographs of the real people, places and events Will is singing about from the collection at the Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre and original Northern Ontario landscape paintings by Hamiltonian visual Artist Susan Robinson, as well as a short silent film of a real dogsled race that took place in the Porcupine during the Gold Rush.

Singer-songwriter, Musician and Entertainer Will Gillespie writes and plays in a variety of timeless, classic musical styles from Folk to Jazz, Blues to Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Swing, Cabaret, Waltzes and more!

From whimsical ditties to heart-breaking ballads to foot-stomping rockers, all played in his own unique, timeless, classic, snazzy, jazzy way .
Will Gillespie’s Music transports you from the barn to the ballroom to a Venetian gondola in the 1920’s to a parking lot in Sudbury all with the same earnest sense of Old-World Romance.

He is a genuine Artist who clearly enjoys what he does.
