Art Therapy Group
Led by Jasmyne Smith, Art Therapist
As we move into November, a warm drink and a good book may seem like the perfect way to pass the time. Books are intimate objects, with an outer cover and rich inner story. Join in an art therapy group with Jasmyne, to explore and reflect on your inner self through the metaphor of the book. Engage in creative exploration through book altering, collage, and mixed media. Challenge your ideas about the purpose of a book by using it as a canvas. Set aside some time this month for self-reflection and creative healing. All materials are included and no artistic experience necessary!
Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy where we can use art and creativity as a modality of self-expression, emotion regulation, and reflection. Art therapy is different than art classes because there is no right or wrong way to engage with the materials – techniques are not taught in a step-by-step fashion – rather the participants can use the materials however they see fit to reflect on a theme. Emphasis is on healing through the creative process, rather than on the aesthetic quality of the artwork.
