About the Curator in Residence

The School of the Arts (SOTA) at McMaster hosts a Curator in Residence for a period of 8 months (September to April). The residency invites an emerging or mid-career curator to work on the McMaster campus to mentor students on curatorial practices and to teach collaboratively in our Certificate in Critical Curatorial Studies. The Curator should be committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in their curatorial practice and engage with anti-oppressive and decolonized frameworks. We are particularly interested in site specific and socially-engaged practices in addition to more conventional curatorial practices.

The Curator in Residence will collaborate with faculty teaching in our Certificate in Critical Curatorial Studies and work with students to develop curatorial projects and texts. Additional opportunities include in class visits and public outreach through talks or museum tours
