Hi! My name is Jesse Adams and I am a singer-songwriter and performer from Hamilton, Ontario. I have been writing songs since I was seven, and finally decided in 2022 to record and release my music! The initial plan was law school, but I realized that life is too short to not pursue your dreams. That late-in-life wisdom either came from from my frontal lobe slowly fusing together, or being cooped up in the house so long during the pandemic that my brain became absolutely fried and I lost all semblance of logic and reason. We still don’t know. In summary, my whole life, I’ve worked so hard at school, getting the perfect grades, creating the perfect resume, feeling like my life would just be nothing but typing essays forever, and this finally felt like I was doing something for me. (Except I still have to write a lot of essays with this singer-songwriter thing, case in point: this artistic statement 😉 )
In the past few years, I have had many incredible opportunities as an artist. In 2024, I played the Main Stage at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival, Canada’s largest free outdoor music festival on the same stage as Kim Mitchell and Kathleen Edwards. The same year, I starred in the season finale of Song Circle which premiered on YesTV, an interview and performance style documentary about Canadian songwriters. In 2023, I had the absolute honour of performing my original song Grieving with 4x Juno nominee Sarah Slean at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre for their Live and Local series, and I co-arranged harmonies for her song Euphoria with my producer Emma Whale for the performance. I just went back into the studio this past week to record seven new songs to be released in the spring of 2025. This time around, I was credited as co-producer for my artistic vision and complex musical arrangements.
My artistic/ creative vision for my career is to musically and visually (through music videos and performing) tell stories in a unique and intriguing way. My goal is to have an identifiable artist image for this next era of songs and to essentially build a relatable character for my audience. These next songs are full of cheeky lyrics, music production you can’t help but dance to, and catchy choruses you can’t get out of your head. They ultimately ask the question, “what if the situationship that left you heartbroken had turned into a relationship instead of ending?” The protagonist goes through trials and tribulations, thinking things like, “I can’t believe I actually got you, that’s crazy. ‘Cos everyone wants you […] Now, how to keep you, well, ain’t that the question for the ages. ‘Cos baby I want you.” She has an arc of self-discovery, realizing that maybe the person she thought she was so in love with isn’t the right one for her. Like me, she laughs through her discomfort, making a joke whenever she can, but her truest feelings shine through in the end, making it a fun but insightful ride. Ultimately, I am a fiery performer who infuses dance and theatre into my sets. Half artist half comedian, my goal is always to have the crowd cheering, chanting, and laughing from beginning to end.
