Jennifer Mook-Sang grew up in Guyana, with a book in each hand. While reading bedtime stories to her two sons, she decided that writing a book for children would be the best thing ever! In the midst of her writing journey, she is amazed and delighted to find herself a published author. Jennifer’s humorous middle-grade novel Speechless (Scholastic) was nominated for many awards. It was named the Surrey Schools Book of the Year and commended as one of the Best Books of the Year by the CBC. Her picture book Captain Monty Takes the Plunge (Kids Can Press) is a Junior Library Guild selection and was nominated for a Rainforest of Reading award. Captain Monty is a stinky pirate who’s never had a bath, because he’s afraid of the water, because (shhh) he can’t swim. Of course, he falls in love with a mermaid. What could be more perfect? Jennifer is thrilled that her newest picture book The Care and Keeping of Grandmas is a Dolly Parton Imagination Library selection. If your grandma might be moving in with you, this book has lots of ideas for you to help her fit in. Illustrator Yong Ling Kang adds even more heart and humour. Jennifer lives in Burlington, Ontario and still loves to read, and cook, and dream up crazy endings for stories.
