Gabriel is a freelance conductor, composer and saxophonist born and raised in Hamilton.   He has an extensive background in wind/marching/concert band music.  As a saxophonist he has performed with a wide variety of musicians including: Teenage Head, Ginger St James, The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hell Bent Rockers and Gordon Lewis.

As a conductor he has conducted several groups including: Banda Lira Do Espirito Santo de Cambridge  (BLES Band of Cambridge)  The McMaster Marching Band,  Filarmonica Lira Bom Jesus of Oakville, (Oakville's Portuguese Band)  SteelTown Symphony, The Top Hat Marching Orchestra (Burlington)  Banda Lira Nossa Senhora De Fatima de Toronto (Our Lady of Fatima Band of Toronto) and has guest conducted The Hamilton Portuguese Band.

As a composer he has focused primarily on wind band music and has had his music performed in Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary as well as internationally in California, Portugal and Spain.

During the pandemic Gabriel focused his efforts on preserving and restoring handwritten sheet music from various bands that had never been in print format.  Some of this music dates to the very beginning of the 20th century and was a severe risk of being lost permanently.  To date he has recovered/restored approximately 1300 pieces of band music from across the continent.
