Arttheboy (Arturo Jimenez) is a Hamilton-based Artist and filmmaker. Since 2020, he has been an arts and culture professional working with various artists, artistic organizations, and social service providers in the not-for-profit sector. He is currently employed as Centre[3]’s film studio coordinator as well as a research assistant for McMaster University.
Arttheboy’s brand of alternative pop was born from his father's record collection of the 80s and 90s with a healthy dose of tumblr-era teenaged angst. His work has been featured by CFMU’s Hamiltopia radio block, 100% Electronica's Stream, and various independent record labels such as First Class Collective, Pacific Plaza, and Virtual Beach Club to name a few! His visual work has been exhibited in McMaster University’s SUMMA Charity Art Auction (2019 & 2020), Centre[3] “In The Off Hours” and at the moma dada gallery.
As a passionate member of the Hamilton creative scene, Art is not only working towards establishing his own artistic identity but also supporting fellow young artists through his film and visual practice. When not doing this he can be found reminding others that it's “Not like the subject… like THE BOY”!
