As an active baritone singer, chorister, music director, conductor, art consultant, author and professional fundraiser; Mr. W. Ian Walker has over 40 years in both vocal and choral music including being a part of these amazing North American ensembles: Hamilton Mennonite Children’s Choir, Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir, Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI)- Young Artist Vocal Program, The University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Music Singers, London Pro Musica Chamber Ensemble and The Orpheus Choir of Toronto, from 2001-2010.
Mr. Walker has his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Film from McMaster University and a Post Graduate Certificate from Humber College’s Fundraising and Volunteer Management Program. Mr. Walker is also an alumnus of the former Banff Centre, School of Management- Development for Arts Administrators Program.
In the fall of 2018, Mr. Ian Walker’s autobiography Stirring My Soul to Sing, Overcoming ADHD Through Song was published. (Word Alive Press) Ian’s “faith and arts-based autobiography” details how he overcame many obstacles associated with ADHD.
Behind the lyrics, melodies, and ovations, Ian experienced verbal abuse, school bullying, poor academic standing, employment instability, financial hardship and divorce. Offering insight into an “artistic and very full arts life,” Ian has been generally non-medicated for his ADHD. The book has been well received internationally and is now 43 bookstores and websites.
In 2021, Ian has taken four characters from his book and developed a one-hour play called Stirring My Soul to Sing-The Play! which explores several aspects of what a child to adult experiences in having ADHD as well as dealing with other mental health issues of life. Mr. Walker is presently exploring several theatre companies to premiere the work in 2022 and beyond.
As Founder and CEO, of Emlian Communications Group for over 15 years, Mr. Walker is expanding his brand and will connecting with many podcast and communications professionals to expand his Arts Management and Marketing company.
In 1999, Ian married his second wife, “his precious Elaine” and they have been together for over twenty years. When time is available, Ian is an active baritone soloist performing throughout the GTA region of Ontario, as musician, singer, podcasting host and author.
