Harold Dickert has been a guitar player since the age of 10. Attempted song writing right from the start. Garage band leader in his teens. But never having been in an actual working band (became an Airline Pilot instead). Switched to only instrumental music by his 30. Blending "Acoustic Finger Style", Prog, and Ambient Jazz for a kind of spaced out spontaneous flow of music, on both electric and acoustic guitars.
Started building guitars in the fall of 2001. He has now completed around 45 guitars with about as many under construction, in addition to as many piles of guitar parts. These include 4-string, 6-string, 7-string, and 12-string guitars, for both electric solid or chambered guitars, acoustic guitars, mini guitars, and with a few bass guitars (4 and 5-string, and a fretless).
All these instruments are made as one-off creations, with woods from all over the world, custom neck shapes, custom selection of hardware and equipment, and custom inlays. As a life long guitar player, his approach to building guitars goes well beyond assembly or following a standard plan. The "feel in the hand" is a big part of design. These guitars are a collaboration of artist and artist for art.
