Chris is a Hamilton based Filipino artist practicing in abstract painting and mural art. He pushes moments of arbitrary movement to create an inner dialogue with material and environment, like that of an abstract dance with painting. His influences are derived from street art, graffiti, murals, abstract art and expressionist painting.
Exploring ideas behind personal and cultural identity, Chris uses abstraction that touches on the aesthetics and shapes of florals. Latex, acrylics and spray paint serve as his main mediums. Currently, he is developing an artwork series around public art and accessibility. Learn more about this project and Chris’s own art practice during this engaging afternoon talk.
Learning from other artists is one of the key elements in an artist’s training. These free 1-hour talks presented by Dundas Valley School of Art are an excellent opportunity to hear from artists themselves as they share information on their careers, inspiration, techniques and the work they produce.
