From festival stages to intimate house concerts, Piper Hayes reminds us of why we go to see live music. Her songwriting is free and fiercely personal; as if it’s been running in the woods, washing in cold water, and howling with wolves. Piper’s immersive storytelling provides context and familiarity, drawing the audience into the conversation.

She is a two time nominee of the Ontario Arts Council's Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award in 2016/2017 and an advocate for mental health and social change. She is a Professor at Centennial College where she teaches a holistic somatic approach to vocal expression, performance and song. In 2021 she was hired on as co-director of Hamilton Sings! Community Choir, where she leads a non-audition choir through song and harmony. She has designed music programming for community support organizations geared toward neurodivergent adults of all abilities, as well as teamed up with the Canadian Mental Health Organization on numerous occasions to deliver workshops on music and mental wellness.

She performs, writes and tours with her partner Carson as the duo Piper & Carson. They describe their latest album Edgewalker's Remedy to be a compilation of lullabies for adult children. It has been praised “A wonderful new recording - a concept album specifically designed to provoke reflection about our lives and what we all take for granted. Piper & Carson definitely walk the talk” - Jan Hall, Folk Roots Radio

Their latest album comes after their critically acclaimed 2017 release ‘Piper & Carson’. Their work is deeply rooted in intention and both strive to use their platform to forward social change. This duo will make you believe that folk music can change the world.
