I’m 19 in my first year of Berklee Online and still totally obsessed with music From intricate chords, simple melodies and heart wrenching lyrics, I’ve always been told I’m a bit too mature for my own good. My dad is a huge Madonna fan, but then who isn’t? I take my inspiration from Selena Gomez, Adele, and Sia. But that is ever evolving, just like me. Music, as long as I can remember, has always made me smile. I lost my mom to cancer when I was three years old, and music has gotten me through whatever life throws at me.
What shapes me as an artist is my day to day experiences. Love, loss, and being bullied. I feel that too many people are affected by other people’s non-acceptance and hurtful words. I used to sing in class, even making up silly songs - I looked and dressed differently. But what does that even mean? We are all different and beautiful. That’s why I was so passionate about writing my first original song, “Look into the mirror”.This song is meant to inspire everyone to embrace who they are no matter what anyone may think.
As with anything we are passionate about, I love to continuously learn and grow within my music. I just want to emerge myself with people who can help me pursue my dream. From song writing to singing I’ve been so lucky to work with Teresa Cirillo, a renowned vocal instructor and owner of Studio E in Hamilton, Ontario. I also got the life changing experience to travel to Nashville and work with Bernard and Molly Porter, founders of PCG Universal. Taking part in a singer/song writers workshop with Brian Melo, Winner of Canadian Idol, gave me the tools and provided me with the confidence to really create what I wanted.
Believe in yourself! Work hard and follow your passions. Every experience in life contributes to making us who we are. I’m so proud of the girl I am today. She’s been through a lot so far. Can’t wait to show you all what’s next ...!
