July 8 – July 31, 2022
Reception Friday, June 8, 7-9:30pm
Established Montreal artist Kathleen Vaughan brings her complex textile creations to the Carnegie Gallery. This exhibition will include a series of fabric assemblages, embroideries, and weavings that visually map specific greenspaces located in Canada, Norway, and Iceland. Their richly textured and embellished surfaces reference the variations in natural terrain and built structures found at these locations, compositionally verging on abstraction. In the broader sense, the work questions the nature and purpose of mapmaking as a form of information sharing.
