Industry and Porchlight Theatre are partnering with the Art Gallery of Hamilton to create The Living Vault, an exhibition featuring six of Hamilton’s most interesting performance artists from backgrounds in theatre, dance, music, video, story-telling, and poetry. These artists are working in pairs with a piece they have chosen from the AGH’s permanent collection to create a short performance.
Called The Living Vault, this project aims to challenge the idea of mentorship by having artists work together in untraditional dynamics. What happens if status is removed from mentorship? What happens when age is removed from mentorship? What happens when a musician mentors a dancer? etc. What can we learn from each other if we change the rules of learning?
Join us at 7 PM on Thursday June 23 for the launch of The Living Vault. The evening will feature a celebration of the artists’ work, and reflections upon their creative journey, along with video documentation of their artistic process. Admission is FREE but requires registration. The exhibition will then live in the AGH through January 8, 2023.
