The Hamiltonian Artist
May 25 - June 15, 2024
Earls Court Gallery is honouring historical Hamilton artists who contributed to the artistic cultural scene from 1860s to 1970s by way of "The Hamiltonian Artist" exhibit. Though not a complete breath of the rich Hamilton arts community from this expansive period, the exhibit and sale offers insight into the artists' creative practices during growth of an industrial city, Hamilton. The exhibition provides a wide selection of media including paintings, original prints and sculptures.
Notably, many of these artworks have been hiding in private collections for years. "The Hamiltonian Artist" exhibit presents a rare opportunity to see these treasured artworks before they disappear to another's collection.
With hindsight, there are Hamilton artists who did not received recognition for their practice during their lifetime. Showcased in the exhibition, is a selection of artists who are only known for working in Hamilton or their affiliation with such organizations as the Women's Arts Association of Hamilton (WAAH). Some of these artists do not have a high profile biography with a long list of awards, but their work is equally significant and exceptional.
Whether creating, collecting or viewing art, it is always about the message and how it makes you feel. Join us in uplifting the visual creations by past Hamilton artists.
