Have fun and begin your journey to design and create jewellery and metal objects! You will learn the fundamentals of this ancient and compelling craft in the company of a small group over the course of a weekend and two evenings.
In this workshop you will learn:
The fundamental knowledge required to use basic jewellery hand tools to accurately measure, mark, and cut non-ferrous (copper, silver, gold and their alloys) metal sheet.
An introduction to metallurgy and how to apply this knowledge as you learn to manipulate your material in various ways by annealing, hammering, melting, sawing, filing, sanding, drilling etc.
Learn all these principles as you make two projects: a ring and a pair of earrings.
This workshop is suitable for someone new to the craft or a more experienced student.
All workshops are taught in Donna’s spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped studio in downtown Hamilton. You will learn by jumping in and beginning a project in the first session!
Workshop fee includes materials, step-by-step instructions for your project, on-line access to printable/downloadable information and an image slideshow. Please bring a dust mask, pencil, notebook, and a small container to store your projects.
Workshops are limited to six participants.
