FREE DVSA Artist Talk with Stephen Altena

October 15 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Join us for a free Artist Talk with Stephen Altena.
A graduate of the Independent Study Program at DVSA, Stephen is co-founder and co-curator of Hundred Dollar Gallery/The Hamilton Art Gallery with Andrew McPhail. He is also one of the founding members of the Hamilton artist-run collective, The Assembly Gallery.

Growing up on a dairy farm outside of Hamilton, Stephen’s art aesthetic was informed by the Victorian farmhouse of his childhood with its pressed tin ceilings, patterned wallpaper and china cabinet brimming with ornamental ‘fancies.” Join us as he shares more about his work and process and the life experiences that inspire his art practice.

Learning from other artists is one of the key elements in an artist’s training. These free 1-hour talks are an excellent opportunity to hear from the artists themselves as they share information on their careers, inspiration, techniques and the work they produce.
