“Art is transformative with patience and curiosity.”
Join us for this evening performance and talk with Dawn and hear more about her artmaking, inspirations and experiences. Dawn’s passion for representation in mainstream media has shaped her profession as a makeup and special FX artist, props maker, wearable art designer and therapeutic art practitioner. She is a 2023 recipient of the Hamilton Arts Council’s Artist Residency at The Cotton Factory.
Dawn develops characters, creates props and designs thought provoking works of wearable art. Her use of upcycled textiles, mediums and techniques blends nuances of the African Diaspora to create a visionary approach in fashion and design.
Dawn’s desire to create inclusive spaces extends to her therapeutic art practice, which helps people explore self-expression and emotions using creativity as a compass for personal insight and healing.
