Crumb

January 21 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Part of our Lives of Artists Film Talk Series!

Join Jeffrey Bender as we venture into the inner worlds of filmmakers, writers, musicians, dancers and painters in this six-film survey all about artists and their craft.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize – Documentary at the Sundance Festival. (1995)

Terry Zwigoff’s landmark 1995 film is an intimate documentary portrait of the underground artist Robert Crumb, whose unique drawing style and sexually and racially provocative subject matter have made him a household name in popular American art. Zwigoff candidly and colorfully delves into the details of Crumb’s incredible career and life, including his family of reclusive eccentrics, some of the most remarkable people you’ll ever see on-screen. At once a profound biographical portrait, a riotous examination of a man’s controversial art, and a devastating look at a troubled family, Crumb is a genuine American original.

Jeffrey Bender

Jeffrey Bender has hosted a number of in-person and online Film Talks with the Westdale, most recently a three-film ‘select-rospective’ on the films of Wes Anderson and Memory Lane, a series of road-trip films from 1973. He joins us this fall to host the Lives of Artists, a selection of films about artistic talent and the creative process, as well as serving as one of the guest speakers for Noir-vember, featuring a survey of classic and contemporary film noir.
