Earls Court Gallery is excited showcase new paintings by Dundas based artist Jody Joseph in her new exhibition titled “Breaking Open the Studio.”
Jody Joseph’s latest paintings look at how observational painting is merely a starting point to open up ideas and welcome a more intuitive painting process. Her new body of work still reflects the items and constructs of her studio space, but also incorporates her own creative desires not often found in observational painting. She lets go of the idea of knowing how to painting ‘things’ and begins the evolution of looking inwards to paint outwards.
“Breaking Open the Studio” showcases 20 paintings that have a foundation in the studio space, but then meander away from representation completely. The paintings are simple and complex, but also intended for viewing to develop over time.
“Breaking Open the Studio” exhibition can be viewed in person at 215 Ottawa Street North, Hamilton, ON. Earls Court Gallery is open Tuesday – Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. The artworks will be featured in the main gallery. All artworks will be featured online starting October 10, 2024 with virtual tour to follow.
