Voluntary Self-Identification

The Arty Crowd funding sources require inclusion of members who identify as belonging to priority groups encompassing: Indigenous, ethnocultural communities, rural or remote residents, youth, and Francophones (english and french). Hamilton Arts Council further wants to measure its success in attracting members from all the diverse groups we serve in the Greater Hamilton Area arts community, including those who are LGBTQ2S+, and persons with disabilities. We will use the aggregates of the information collected here to measure our success in making The Arty Crowd an accessible and safe space for all who join. We thank the members of the committee from the Safer Spaces Project who advised us in creating an inclusive self-identification process.

Biography / Artistic Statement / Creative Vision

I’m Jess, a whimsical being who creates through meditation. My work is inspired by French culture and nature, realistic, abstract, yet with a magical feel with layers and colour choices. The mediums I use are watercolour, acrylic or digital media in Photoshop. Each idea manifests in its unique style and definition behind the painting.

I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember. I am lucky that I was born into such a creative family. My great-grandma and grandma specialized in visual arts, and my mother was in interior design. While I still maintained that passion for art through grade school and leading into post-secondary education. I carry that passion and use it every day in my professional and artisan life. Since 2016, my paintings have been in markets, auctions, cafés, and online galleries. I work out of my studio in an old historic building, “Millworks Creative District.” Located in the downtown core of Dundas, Ontario.

I hope to use my travel experiences to reach new heights with my artwork. Music is a significant part of my painting environment, also a daily walk or hikes to get my creative juices flowing.
