Justine Eva Smith is a multidisciplinary artist based in Hamilton, Ontario, and graduate of OCAD University’s Integrated Media and Drawing & Painting program and Sheridan College’s Visual Arts program. Working often with traditional mediums like oil painting and drawing, Justine captures the complexity of human expression, identity, and impermanence. Portrait-focused works delve into individuality, rawness, and authenticity and have recently expanded to incorporate objects and still life that bridge past and present.
Beyond visual art, Justine integrates movement and sound through time-based technologies, drawing on experience as a musician. Having performed in numerous bands and experimental music projects in the GTA, Justine continues to compose and record music to craft immersive, multi-sensory experiences.
Rooted in an interdisciplinary approach, Justine’s work explores themes of identity, memory and shared humanity.
